Kidney failure is a disease that is fast assuming alarming proportions. However, healthcare spending on the disease is not keeping pace. This especially is true in developing countries, where patients do not have access to quality renal care, mainly due to lack of infrastructure, lack of awareness about the disease and methods of prevention and financial constraints.
The answer to this burgeoning problem is in approaching the area of renal diseases more scientifically and in a more organised manner by mobilising public awareness in favour of this disease. Such efforts also need to be backed by infrastructure upgradation, training and education, research as well as efforts to coordinate kidney donations. endeavours to participate in this environment and be an agent of change.
